We make tops in laminate, solid wood, wood veneer, solid surface, solid phenolic, and coated MDF, each with multiple edge treatments. Laminate options include RightEdge (PVC edge), NeoCast (urethane), ArborEdge (wood edge), MultiPly (plywood edge), StreamLine (aluminum edge), and TeeLine (T-mold). Wood options include TruePlank, TrueBlock butcher block, MapleView veneer, and TimberLine. EverCore is solid surface, ThinduraCore is thin profile solid phenolic, FiberCore is wood fiber, and TrueColor is commercial-grade coated MDF. Full list on the table tops page.
It's both a matter of preference, and a matter of function too! It's always smart to match the material to how the surface gets used. Laminate is typically the workhorse for cafés, training spaces, classrooms, K-12 cafeterias, and higher ed dining halls: durable, easy to clean, huge color/pattern selection, and the most affordable price point. Solid surface (EverCore) is very stylish, but also seamless and renewable, ideal for hospitality, corporate, healthcare and high-cleaning environments. Solid wood (TruePlank, TrueBlock) and wood veneer (MapleView, TimberLine) bring warmth and premium aesthetics for executive, high-end hospitality, and conference settings. Solid phenolic (ThinduraCore) is ultra-durable for education, food service, and really any high-use spaces. The ideal material for any space really depends on the level of wear and tear expected--choose wisely!
OpenStudio is FurnitureLab's proprietary line of customizable graphic laminates. Pick a pattern, then mix the colors however you want from Pantone, Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or a custom color. Match school colors, corporate branding, anything you can dream up. Scale it, save it, and you have designed a one-of-a-kind table top. Your Account Manager will help you brainstorm if you want a hand. Also, you'll get a physical sample for approval pre-production to prevent any surprises!
Yes. We integrate power into almost any table top, including three-prong AC, USB-A, USB-C, or even HDMI. Our in-house design team will render the setup so you can see exactly where ports land before anything ships. See all the options on our Power Units page. If you have a specific power unit in mind that we don't offer here, just let us know and we can make sure it's compatible with your selected FurnitureLab table top and base.
