When great design happens to great people.

One of our favorite local designers was tasked with renovating a very dated space at Wake Tech, and they delivered a modern, bright, airy lounge with an exciting mix of seating at every height, multiple zones for eating, studying, and socializing. This project was done over the course of 2020-2021--hardly an ideal time for such an undertaking.

But the spirit of Wake Tech is one of perserverance, as exemplified by the testimony its president gave to the US Congress in April 2021.

Dr. Scott Ralls talked about how Wake Tech pivoted at the start of the pandemic and collected all of its existing PPE, donating thousands of gloves & masks, hundreds of bottles of sanitizer and their only ventilator to local hospitals.

Wake Tech also reached out with an outbound calling campaign to check in on each of its students and revamped vital tutoring services. In the Fall of 2020, the college waived fees to give students a financial break, and as of April 2021, has distributed emergency financial aid, provided grocery gift cards, and distributed free student laptops to thousands of students.

I guess the real takeaway is that it's a beautifully designed multipurpose cafe space, and this generous, resilient community truly deserves it.
